	About
	HFH St. Tammany West is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged. Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses. Back To Top

	ACCOMPLISHMENTS 2000 - Joined the 21st Century Challenge issued by Habitat Founder Millard Fuller. STW sets goal to eliminate substandard housing by 2025. 2002 - 10 new houses completed. 2003 - 15 new houses completed. 2004 - 11 new houses completed. 2005 - 12 new houses completed. Total of 85 New Houses since 1981 Since Hurricane Katrina destroyed 5,000 homes in St. Tammany Parish HFHSTW has recieved 25 Operation Home Delivery houses. Nineteen are under construction now in Covington and Abita Springs.

NEWS NEW HABITAT RESTORE TO OPEN IN JUNE 2006! The new Habitat ReStore will open at 1400 North Lane in Mandeville on Hwy 59 behind the Prieto Fire Station on June 21, 2006. 	JOB OPENINGS: Grant Manager (Full-time) Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West seeks a grant manager to manage non-profit, private, and governmental grants. The Grants Manager is responsible for administration of current grants, writing new grants applications, and researching new sources of funding. Must have excellent written and verbal skills, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines. Candidates should have proven record of success in grant writing and management.
